15 hour plane ride with a 4 month old?

we will be traveling from italy to the us with our 4 month old, we purchased her a seat, would her carseat fit on the seat? do we need to bring the base? and also how many bottles should i bring? i will be bringing her diaper bag and my bag as carryon and the rest is checked in, would i be charged for 2 carry ons? we will be leaving this sunday.

You may want to check with the airline about bottles. I don’t know how they handle it with formula fed babies… surely they can’t let them go hungry! But on occations breastfeeding mothers have been forced to dump out pumped milk that wasn’t stored in three ounce bottles. The security regulations can be *crazy* so you should be prepared for how they might be applied to your child’s bottles.

Would your handbag fit *inside* the diaper bag as you board? If so then you won’t have to worry about getting charged for a second carry on. If not… that too would have to be answered by the airline.

ETA: I found the website explaination about the ’3 oz’ rules… they do say larger amounts of formula can be ‘declared’ at the security checkpoint. However, they also mention that the same applies to breast milk and some mothers *have* been forced to dump it. I’d print something formal looking from the website to have with just in case there is a ‘fuss’ over it.
