I’ve been cloth-dipering my baby (7 1/2 weeks) since coming home from the hospital…. Now he’s pees alot more. I use two diapers at a time during the night, both flat folds, but he’s soaking them at night when he sleeps for 4-6 hours at a stretch. I am using covers, Dappi, Chummies, and ProRap, but the Dappi’s seem to leak a little or at least the fabric wicks out moisture? If anyone has ever used cloth past a month (hehe) how do I combat the night leakies, and STILL use cloth? I mean, I’ve got TWO diapers and a cover wrapped around him, so that his little legs look all funny and stick out kind of… I want him to have less bulk, but still absorbent? Anything better than birdseye cotton diapers?
No, no disposables for my baby, don’t suggest pls. Thanks.
For prefolds, don’t use birdseye-they are terrible!
Try indian or chinese prefolds-way more absorbant! Like these http://www.diapersafari.com/products/item.asp?ProdID=401
For covers, we use bummis-you can fold the prefold and stick it under a flap. We also use fleece covers to go over fitted diapers.
At night and for naps, I use a fuzzi bunz (pocket diaper) with a microfiber insert that it came with and an indian prefold. No leaks! It is bulky at night, but I bet way more comfy than a disposable! I’ve been cloth diapering for over a year now, I mostly use pocket diapers, but have prefolds and fitteds that go under covers. Here’s some great sites for cloth diaper reviews and some forums that you can ask experienced cloth diaperers more questions! www.diaperjungle.com and www.diaperpin.com

Baby Diaper Question: Name brand, Online discount, or no name brand?
I currently buy, or should I say daddy buys, the Wal-mart brand – parents choice. They are affordable – the small pack of size 2, 48 quantity, costs only $6.00 or $7.00. the big box of size 3, 104 quantity was like $13.00 – and they are velcro tabs.
Well, I was looking up these diaper discount online services and was thrown at how expensive they are, but they all compare themselves to the name brand, but better. I guess compared to Huggies prices at the store, they are cheaper to buy in bulk in the online diaper brand.
But, where I spend $25 on generic Diapers – I’d spend $50 online.
So, I was wondering what is your opinion? I want to save money – but i am not going to put my daughters well-being 2nd. Heck, I buy johnson and johnson and also (mainly) aveeno baby products only for her and we buy huggies natural care wipes.
I’f your not getting leaks or nappy rash from the no name brand then why change? it’s not doing her any harm. And the name brands have so many ‘stay dry’chemicals in them I can’t see them doing her any good
