Diaper Cake Ideas – Five Creative Designs
Looking for a great baby shower gift? Check out these five creative diaper cake ideas and make your own baby present with just a bit of planning and only 30 minutes.
Diaper cakes can be used as either decorations for the baby shower or as a gift for the new baby. They’re most often made with disposable diapers, although cloth can be used, too. A simple two tier diaper cake can be made using one package of disposable diapers, rubber bands, some ribbon and an assortment of baby items.
To create something unique, find baby items that follow a theme. Some ideas for great themes and the diaper cake decorations that go with them include:

You can find diaper cake ideas in almost any baby item. Browse online or in the baby section of your favorite department store and look for items that belong together in a theme and match in color. Always make sure the items you choose that are meant as toys or baby products are safe for infants.
If you want your diaper cake to last as a nursery decoration for awhile after the baby is born, use disposable diapers that are a size larger than newborn and attach baby toys that are appropriate for babies a few months and older. Newborns do a lot of things – sleep, eat, sleep – but they don’t necessarily need those toys right away. Choose a diaper cake theme that matches the crib set and your gift can last as a decoration for just a little longer.

What would you consider to be a good price for a diaper cake?
Tell me any price you think would be decent for a diaper cake… Please specify what size you are talking about… such as a cupcake, 1 tier, 2 tier, 3 tier, 4 tier, and 5 tier.. Thank you so much!!
Depends on how many diapers the diaper cake contains, what brand of disposable diapers are used, and also what else is included. Are you going to add baby care items like pacifiers, blankets, etc., or will your cakes be diapers only? Are you going to construct your diaper cakes with Pampers? Huggies? A generic?
I would do a little internet research and see what others are charging for their diaper cakes. Compare the contents of other people’s diaper cakes with your own. When you see a diaper cake that has about the same number of diapers (and the same brand), with about the same amount of baby supplies included, make a note of the price.
Once you get a good feel for what’s out there, price your cakes competitively. You don’t want to offer the most expensive diaper cakes on the market, but you don’t want to be the cheapest either. People will assume there is something sub-standard about your diaper cakes compared to others if they cost substantially less than other cakes that are available. Besides, you are just losing money if your prices aren’t competitive within the market. You can charge *a little* less than most people if you want a little edge over more expensive retailers, but I wouldn’t go much less than 5% below average.
Keep in mind that diaper cakes you see on eBay are going to be priced a bit less than diaper cakes from commercial websites – people who offer diaper cakes for sale on eBay have to price them lower to stay competitive with all the other sellers of diaper cakes on eBay. There are a lot!
I wish you great success with your diaper cake business!
